Gary Clay’s extensive 40 years of National and International experience provides him with practical and working knowledge in the horse, equestrian and equine industry. Gary has been sought out by attorneys and insurance companies to handle work as a litigation consultant, expert witness and equine appraiser due to his national reputation as a horse show judge and horse clinician.

Gary Clay provides consulting for customers and their horses generally by assisting in the inspection and purchase. His illustrious career has given him the opportunity to work directly with some of the finest trainers and equestrian experts.

Gary carries the highest ratting known as a Large “R” with the United States Equestrian Federation and has judged various National Championships and Shows in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Mr. Clay has trained horses and riders who have won a combined 50+ National titles and 100’s of top ten titles.

Appraising is a process that requires research, knowledge and experience. Appraising is not an exact science. The appraiser must draw from his expertise to formulate a current market value. Once the process is completed, a report is drawn up and can be submitted for use in the following areas:

Gary’s 35+ years in the horse industry as a Trainer, Coach, Lecturer has given him practical experience and allowed him to be able to evaluate and judge horses according to their breed standards, conformation, performance, and attitude.

He has the ability to adjudicate fairly, maintaining the highest level of integrity. This high standard of competence and honesty has placed him in demand as a show judge for many different breeds, and allowed him to Judge in Canada, Mexico and the United States on both the Local, Regional and National levels. He holds a Large “R” in the Arabian division with specialty cards in Reining and Reining seat.


Gary has been a guest lecturer and panel member of "The Judges School". His involvement in the industry includes being a past member of the western horse rules board, whose duty is to oversee all rules in the western division of US Equestrian.

He has been an involved contributor to many areas in the equine industry. He often donates his time to smaller practice shows.
